Electromagnetic radiation is technically anything from static magnetic fields right up to radio waves and microwaves. This actually covers things like high-voltage equipment, radio masts, inductions coils, mobile phone transmitters, MRI scanners and other communications equipment.

Whilst the health effects to the public of such waves are unclear, there are levels in workplaces that are known to have undesirable effects on the human body and there is European based legislation covering the maximum permissible exposure.
